In this series of paintings I explore a continuing obsession with the morphology and dynamics of natural processes. These forms, processes and effects are repeated in nature in varied scale from the microscopic to the galactic. Hence, I find electron micrographs, satellite photographs and space telescope images endlessly inspiring. These pieces are compelling in their own right but also as metaphor for the landscape of the psyche. In the making these wax pieces I become the conduit for translating the metaphysical into the literal and vice versa. I am the process. To reflect on this iconography of the universal is to consider meaning and purpose. In melting this wax and paint I find both.
