Susan Wolfe Huppman was born in Mississippi and grew up in New Orleans. She was drawn to art from earliest childhood. She graduated from Princeton University in 1983 where she majored in Art History/Visual Arts. There, she studied painting under Irish painter, Sean Scully and criticism under poet David Shapiro, himself a student of noted art critic, Meyer Shapiro. Susan now lives on a farm in Maryland with her husband and two children.
